Last Friday night, my wife and I made an appointment to have dinner together. I've been busy all day, and at night, I still don't have time to exercise. Part of me is afraid to drive to dinner and sit for the next two hours, especially since I'm not sweating and my calorie bin is full. Then came the turning point: my wife suggested we walk to dinner. When I got home, she was already waiting for me at the front door in comfy shoes. I didn't like the idea at first, but at the end of our walk, I wish I had come up with it myself. By walking to dinner, we managed to take a step and get our hearts pounding before indulging in appetizers.
This is just one small example of the many things my wife has done to ensure a healthier life for me. Finding your spouse allows you to tag team fitness and live a healthier life together. The key is to make fitness a part of your lifestyle, not just a New Year's resolution that fails a month later. I use my secrets to help you and your spouse live a healthier life and prepare you for success.
walk after dinner
In Italy, people have a tradition of taking a walk with their family after dinner. Pasa giatta is a practice that not only brings more steps, but also allows your family to connect with each other and with others in the community. You don't have to live in Florence or Venice to participate in this time-honored tradition. Don't go to the living room to sit in front of the TV after dinner, get up and act.
go dance
This is a great date night event that combines romance, music and cardio. Switching to music may burn more calories than you think. According to research from Harvard Medical School, a 155-pound person can burn more than 200 calories through 30 minutes of fast dancing. Time to put on your dancing shoes!
Take turns shopping and preparing meals.
Filling your home with healthy food and delicious, nutritious meals is a team effort. Instead of reaching for a takeout menu, make cooking an activity between husband and wife. Fitness is important, but a healthy diet is essential for quick weight loss. Prepping your meals on weekends so you can easily get them during the week also helps limit the temptation to sneak in sweets. Not sure where to start? Check out the launch of this 7-day meal plan.
Make sure your partner is sleeping well.
When it comes to sleep, quality is just as important as quantity. Don't be the one who blows up the TV when your partner is trying to fall asleep. Set up your sleep environment for success. Be sensitive to the sleeping environment at home and make sure you are doing everything you can to ensure your partner sleeps soundly. Not sure how you sleep? With the bp smartwatch, you can use sleep stages to see how much REM, light and deep sleep you are getting.
